Thank you for taking an interest in joining Getchell Fire. Working for Getchell Fire is a rewarding and satisfying experience. The feeling of self-satisfaction received by helping people in need cannot be described on paper. It is something each member of our organization values, and makes the hardships of the service worth enduring.

Snohomish County Fire District #22 provides fire, emergency medical services, automobile extrication, wildland fire suppression, and BLS transport service to over 4500 year around residents.  This is accomplished with 30 volunteer members with eight pieces of apparatus.

Fire District #22 is located in a unique geographic location.  Our fire district is surrounded by much larger suburban communities that enjoy mostly fully paid fire departments.  Fire District #22 regularly assists these other neighboring fire districts on routine medical emergencies, as well as first alarm residential, and commercial structure fire responses. We provide a BLS transport service to our neighboring mutual aid partners that enables FD#22 to provide no fee BLS transport service to our own constituents.

Fire District #22 is also very active in Wildland State Mobilization. We are a part of a Strike Team/Task Force that is regularly called on to support large scale brush fires in Washington. We have even responded to out of state brush fire deployments.

Most routine alarms are handled by our duty crew of two part-time firefighter EMT’s.  This crew is paid a small stipend that equates to roughly $9.00 per hour for shift work or other activities. When a major alarm is dispatched or multiple alarms are dispatched in a short time frame, at home personnel are paged to respond.

Snohomish County Fire District 22 has one station and one support house. The District owns two structural engines, two brush engines, two aid units, one tender, and one chief unit. We are also supported by a mutual aid battalion unit.

Station 68 is staffed 24 hours a day with shift change at 0700 hrs. You will respond to emergency calls, including fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, aid calls, and various calls for staffing. All firefighters are required to pass and maintain a state certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, and the IFSAC Firefighter I certification. All continuing education courses are given monthly during EMS drill nights to maintain certifications. Other training courses are offered through the National Fire Academy, Everett Community College Fire Science Program, and regularly scheduled drills twice per day.

Opportunities for qualified individuals include positions for various committees necessary to the functioning of the program.
